Beloved hot dog spot Frank kept things pretty simple during SXSW this year, restricting their shows to a surprise Bob Mould appearance and a day party curated by Residual Kid. Lucky for us, Will Branch was at Residual Kid’s shindig and took some shots of the excellent line-up. Residual Kid continues to evolve into a tight, dynamic band that is talented beyond their years, but we were also impressed with Yuck and their Pixies-meets-Superchunk sound, and Beach Slang, who win SXSW MVP honors for being on seemingly every damn bill this year and sounding better and better each time. Also, in a surreal turn of events, Matt Pinfield of 120 Minutes fame hosted the whole event.
