The Velvet Teen was a band I was in love with when I was a teenager. My angsty, emo self would listen to them while riding the bus home after a long day of horrible high school. When I heard they were coming through Austin again, and playing at Holy Mountain, I just couldn’t miss them. Though they didn’t play the one song that would have made me fall down crying immediately, it was still a great show and a couple of times I did grab my heart to make sure it was still beating. Also on this bill was Young Tongue, which was surprising because their frontwoman Liz is about to give birth any minute, and San Antonians Bright Like the Sun. If my pictures portray anything, I hope they pick up how passionate it all was.
