Last Friday, Austin legend in the making Sabrina Ellis threw a birthday bash at Beerland, featuring Pleasure Venom and Big Bill supporting her recently Merge-signed band A Giant Dog. The event was a sweaty, rowdy spectacle, with Pleasure Venom and Big Bill clearly giving it their all out of admiration for Ellis, amped up even further by the massive, giddy crowd. Given A Giant Dog’s ascent into the larger indie sphere this year, this was undoubtedly one of the last opportunities Austinites had to catch the band in a space as small and lovably grimy as Beerland, so if you missed out, we’re truly sorry (and judging by the line snaking around the block, quite a few of you did).
