Festival season doesn’t just mean you get to feast on overpriced old hot dogs and watery beer while enjoying the new crop of buzz bands from leagues away. It also means a lot of great groups are doing smaller shows outside the festival, either to get in some extra exposure or to get a break from the festivities to do something for real fans. We’ve been enjoying the benefits of that with a series of excellent line-ups around town thanks to ACL and the looming FFF. Such was the case when badass hip hop duo Run the Jewels came through to the Do512 Lounge and an invite hit our inbox. Carlos Matos volunteered within half a minute of getting the invite, he was just that eager to get up close and personal with the sweaty venom spitting group.
