For the final day of Free Week, we brought out a mixture of folk and post-rock acts, like Free Kittens & Bread, Honey and Salt, Hunter Jones, Arielle LaGuette, The Khost and Bright Like the Sun. It was a pretty fun show up until the moment in the middle of Bright Like the Sun’s set when the entire crowd learned at the exact same time that David Bowie had died. It was pretty weird to be in a crowd at that moment, and to see everyone’s expressions drop while the band played on, blissfully unaware before Swan Dive’s sound person announced the news over the PA. Who would have thought Free Week would end on such a tragic note?
