Holy Mountain has been one of the best venues in Austin since it opened, with its tireless support of local bands and the commitment of its staff to improving the local scene. This is why the community response to it closing after three years has been so significant. Holy Mountain’s departure does not mean the Red River Cultural District or Austin live music on the whole are going away, but it does mean that one of the most vital venues in the city is leaving a void that needs to be filled. Their Final Weekend of shows displayed the love the venue had for the community and collected some of the greatest talent it fostered, from Magna Carda to Chipper Jones to Feral Future to Holy Mountain’s own staff’s projects like Not in the Face and Harvest Thieves. Ashley Bradley attended all three days of the Final Weekend and collected photos immortalizing the event, which we are happy to share with you. As sad as we are to see Holy Mountain go, we hope that it will continue to inspire others like it inspired us and we ask that you continue to support the projects of its talented staff, as well as other incubator venues in the area. Thanks for all you’ve done, Holy Mountain!
