Free Week is like the blob of Austin music events: it just keeps spreading and expanding and gobbling up time and places. Soon it will be Free Month. But for the moment, it’s providing us with a lot of excellent line-ups to catch (even though this year there were a lot of bands getting quintuple bookings– what was up with that? surely Austin has enough bands for every day of Free Week to be a fresh line-up?). Ashley Bradley was on the scene to document this year’s Free Week and this time out she focused on the groups playing at Empire Control Room and Mohawk, like the Flesh Lights, XETAS, Major Major Major and SUPER THIEF (featuring Ovrld’s own Cody Kimbell). You can also take a look at her first batch of photos here, including shots of Ghetto Ghouls, Gospel Truth, Beth Israel, and her second batch, with Tia Carrera, Carl Sagan’s Skate Shoes and more, here.
