With two stages and eight bands booked, we knew Rock Bottom’s show was going to be the hardest show to run, but we really didn’t know what we were up against until we arrived. It took us much longer to get the outside stage up-and-running because of some sound issues—but after figuring it all out, running only 30 minutes behind, everything was on track ready to go. The only things we had to worry about then were the cops being called by one of the neighbors who shared the outside space, and that we wouldn’t blow some breaker—shutting down all the power for our show, and well… also all of the surrounding neighbors. But, maybe because the house festival gods were smiling upon us, everything went great. We ended up going 30 minutes over curfew, but the neighbors we were worried about calling the cops actually came out and joined us and said they wished more things like this would happen. The bands killed it, a lot of people donated to SAFE and there were good times all around. It felt like a strong fucking community, and that’s what it was all supposed to be about.
