’80s nostalgia seems to be at an all-time high right now, so it takes a lot for an artist to stand out from the pack. But Houston’s Tee Vee accomplishes that easily with her feathery voice and deep songwriting, a far cry from the overly simplistic and hollow work of so many other ’80s minded electro pop acts. “Dreaming,” which we’re pleased to premiere today, is a sensual and impeccably crafted exploration of those first terrifying moments of a new relationship when you realize you’re falling hard for someone. Though the beat is comprised of handclaps and layers of chirping synths, Tee Vee’s voice is the main attraction, recalling Class Actress at their most lush, a stunning mix of hopeful passion and alluring vulnerability. Listening to it, you get the feeling it would work as well acapella as it does fully produced.
