Veteran Austin power pop outfit the Sour Notes are back with a new album called Darkest Sour, showcasing both their newly darker sound and more ambitious production aesthetic. Mixed & mastered by Grammy winning engineers Steve Christensen (Steve Earle, Robert Ellis, Khruangbin) & Joe LaPorta (David Bowie, Run the Jewels, Parquet Courts), Darkest Sour is poised to break the Sour Notes out in a major way when it hits shelves on Record Store Day Black Friday on November 24th via No Play Music. You can hear this on their epic new single “Loose Leaf and Bleak,” where the band veers from aggressive guitar heroics to Raveonnettes moodiness to a motorik outro that becomes sister track “Parallel Action”. Check it out for yourself below:
And then be sure to catch the band with Go Fever at the PJ Harvey after show on Friday, April 28th at Stubbs!
