Mohawk Bends may be freshly formed– they started playing together this winter– but on their debut single “Plaser Cast,” they perform with startling confidence, recalling the songwriting prowess of Britpoppers James at their prime. Self-recorded and then mixed and mastered by Steve Williams, “Plaster Cast” is also impressively produced, with perfectly crisp vocals and warm, chiming guitars at the forefront, making for a no-frills indie rock experience full of sincerity and charm rather than gimmicks and fuss.
