On their new single “First Dates and Birthdays,” Housewarming explore the awkwardness of meeting people and maintaining relationships over warm, growling guitar riffs and laid back rhythms. The single hearkens back to the classic indie rock era of acts like Sebadoh and Built to Spill but local fans of the late Growl will find a lot to love in the breathy vocals and playful beat. The single’s parent EP Sasha— named after a cat lead vocalist and guitarist Nick Ehrnstein had as a kid– is even more diverse in sounds, mixing in elements of twang and noise rock. You’ll want to pick Sasha up on December 2nd at Cheer Up Charlie’s during the band’s release party, but until then enjoy “First Dates and Birthdays!”
