Exclusive Track Premiere: Go Fever “Small Talk”

We’ve been Acey Monaro fans since she first arrived in Austin with her New Wave-leaning self-titled EP. The Australian expat has established herself as one of Austin’s finest songwriters and also one of its most restless, always eager to experiment with her sound. The result of that restless energy is her new band Go Fever, a mixture of ’70s sounds ranging from Exile on Main Street gutter twang to the Nick Lowe end of pub rock, all working to add bite to Monaro’s voice, pushing her closer to her inner Neko Case. “Small Talk,” which we’re premiering for you today, has a relentless beat driving it as Monaro delivers blink-and-you’ll-miss-them bon mots like “I’ve got more mystery/Than Agatha Christie,” propelling her melodies ever forward as the guitar chug and churn. We think you’ll be impressed enough with what you hear that you’ll want to immediately RSVP for the band’s album release show this Friday, February 24th at Cheer Up Charlie’s with Deep Time, Big Bill and more.
