Team Next have been hard at work building up a base in Austin, functioning as a Texas spin on like-minded collectives ASAP Mob and Odd Future. At the center of it all is The Teeta, whose syrupy flow and cheekily antagonist lyrical delivery makes him stand out in an Austin hip hop scene that could use a little more darkness. Teeta’s latest track and collaboration with Grindlife Films is “Say My Name,” featuring Teeta taunting the viewer as some white out prankster “enhances” the visuals. Teeta’s upcoming LP Monsta in the Attic III is likely to be a sonic representation of that anarchic visual style, with blink-and-you’ll-miss-it lyric references and grimy production, so be sure to keep an eye out for it.
