Exclusive Video Premiere: Robby “Whatever Never”

Hearkening back to the glory days of 4AD, Robby’s new single “Whatever Never” is alterna-pop that splits the difference between Ride and Mazzy Star. That’s not too surprising considering the pedigree of the band; alongside frontman Robert Williams are Ringo Deathstarr’s Daniel Coborn and Lolita Carroll of Lolita Lynne. The video begins as a traditional shoegaze clip, with the band performing in front of a dazzling lightshow, but it goes in an unexpected direction when it shifts to scenes featuring a hipster wolfman traveling around Austin’s east side to match the lyrics’ depiction of having “Our names in light/New club every night.” Check it out for yourself before and then catch Robby this Saturday, January 6th at Hotel Vegas for Free Week with Annabelle Chairlegs, Caroline Says and more, and then also be sure to keep an eye out for info on their album release show on February 16th at Cheer Up Charlie’s with indie rock faves Growl!
