Video Premiere: Rap of the Leopard “Hollywood”

Director Ben Snyder approached us recently about premiering “Hollywood,” a clip from up-and-coming ATX hip hop crew Rap of the Leopard and we were blown away by the grimy, Sin City gone psychedelic aesthetic of the work. Rap of the Leopard are new to us but “Hollywood” instantly shot them to the top of our “keep your eyes on them” list and not just because Snyder did such wonderful work with the video. The production recalls what Karl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force termed the “dumpster rolling down five flights of stairs” tones of Flying Lotus but the vocal delivery is disarmingly laid back, describing some urban misanthropy by a dude named “Hollywood.” The video made its real world premier at the Austin Music Video Festival this week but we couldn’t be more excited to bring it to you here in the digital domain. And keep checking Ovrld, where we’ll keep you posted on whatever Rap of the Leopard are working on next.
