Chicago has more than its fair share of songs celebrating it in all its epic glory but as a Windy City expat, Scott Collins has a more complicated view of the city that used to be his home. That’s on full display in both the song and video “My Old Home (Chicago),” where Collins reckons with the awareness that the city might have been his home, but he needs to move on to discover who he actually is. The video, compiled from tour footage by Rob Pascolo, has Collins working out those hometown feelings on the road, adding further universality to Collins’ song. After all, so many of us– particularly in Austin– have our own Chicagos we left behind, for better or for worse. Tune in below and then catch Collins this Sunday, January 28th at Little Darlin’ for his birthday show with the Cover Letter, where you can swap Chicago tales with him.
