The 2011 Wild Frontier Fest is going down starting this Saturday at Emo’s with a ton of amazing local bands. While Carter will have you covered regarding one of the Fest’s headliners (Octopus Project), I wanted to spotlight a lesser known band that really deserves a bit more of our attention.
Tactics, a group of 5 gentlemen from San Marcos, formed in 2010 and immediately began making incredibly alluring instrumental rock/pop music. Seriously, the band added their last member, Logan Wexler, a mere 30 hours before their first gig and never looked back. Upon first listen, you can tell these guys are, as a whole, incredibly gifted musicians with a knack for creating compelling tunes.
Tactics’ sound is similar to that of fellow Austinites Explosions in the Sky, with songs that build to incredible crescendos thanks to pulsing percussion and guitar work. I could tell you how endlessly impressed I am with their live sound, but why don’t you just check out the video posted below and see/hear for yourself:
Once again, Tactics, as well as a number of other great groups, will be playing Wild Frontier Fest at Emo’s this Saturday. Sounds like a perfect pre-ACL weekend to me.
UPDATE: Tactics will be playing at 3:30pm per the Wild Frontier Fest schedule!
