You might not realize it yet, but Austin is experiencing a pop renaissance, with a truly breathtaking number of local artists releasing increasingly powerful works showcasing a wide array of pop sounds. Sami Serrano, one of the newest voices to emerge, is also one of the most eclectic and unpredictable. Over the past few months Serrano has released a steady stream of tracks that are sparsely produced but nonetheless display some unexpected flavors, be it the blissed out collision of wind chime synths and R&B vocals on “Piece of Work” or the nostalgic and playful samples at the heart of melancholy folk jazz number “More Than Me.” But today we’re delighted to help usher in a new chapter in Serrano’s sonic evolution with the premiere of “Groove,” a full fledged club pop anthem bursting at the seams with ’80s synth chords and guitar licks and a pulse pounding beat propelling Serrano’s effortlessly confident and soulful vocals. Give it a listen below, and catch Sami Serrano this Saturday, July 13th at Paper Tiger in San Antonio for the Viva Imagine! fundraiser!
