Sailor Poon have never exactly shied away from sludge but on their new single “Moneysnake Rising,” they completely embrace it, riding out a wave of grimy, fuzzy riffs that’d make the Butthole Surfers blush. A sneering takedown of the modern era’s descent back into serfdom, “Moneysnake Rising” bridges Sailor Poon’s psych and punk aspects, culminating in a dirgey breakdown full of howls and chirps and atonal blasts from who knows where.
